Aberdeen Jazz Festival takes place in March every year, this event has grown with each successive year and this year’s was the biggest yet. On the first Sunday of the Festival, Jazz on the Green takes place. The green is the old entrance to the city below the old Castle hill and was a run down area, but has been gradually improved in recent years.
Despite the name there are concerts at several locations just off of the City’s main Thoroughfare, Union Street. This year I managed to go to two concerts by local bands. “Leppard and the Big Cats” playing Motown, Soul and Funk in the Tunnels, nightclub. Gerry Jablonski Electric Band playing Blues Rock on the Green itself. If you like either genre of music I’d recommend both of these bands.
